I didn't buy a lot today because of the somber mood the town is in. I haven't documented my shopping trips but wanted to kick off the new year with some budget tips. Brand new year so it's like starting from scratch.
1. My budget was $25.
2. Maximize savings by using coupons and taking advantage of gift card deals.
The Tide is Buy 2, get a $5 Target gift card. They were priced at $9.99. I used 2 $2.00/1 Tide coupon from the December P&G insert and 2 $1/1 Target Store hang tag coupons found on the bottles.
The Scrubbing Bubbles are Buy 4, get a $5 Target gift card. They were priced at $4.19. I used 2 Buy 1 Scrubbing Bubbles Toilet Bowl Gel Cleaner, get a Scrubbing Bubbles Bathroom cleaner free.
My total before coupons was $36.74.
My total after coupons was $22.36. I also got back $10 in Target gift cards, making my total $12.36.
You can keep the gift cards and save them throughout the year to pay for Christmas gifts for next year OR you can roll them towards other gift card deals to lower your out of pocket. I'm choosing to save mine.
