Batter Up! GIANT Food Store Bakery Specialists Celebrate Phillie Phanatic's Birthday with a Cake Decorating Contest!


You know how much I absolutely GIANT, (we've had a great relationship over the past few years) so here's some great news that includes the customers!

GIANT’S BAKERY SPECIALISTS CELEBRATE THE PHILLIE PHANATIC’S BIRTHDAY WITH RETURN OF CAKE DECORATING CONTEST 

Public to Vote for Winner on GIANT’S Facebook Page Starting Thursday, April 25 at 8 a.m.

CARLISLE, Pa., (April 23, 2019) – As the Official Grocer of the Philadelphia Phillies, GIANT Food Stores is proud to announce the return of its cake decorating contest in celebration of the Phillie Phanatic’s birthday. A group of 18 GIANT Bakery Specialists from 15 stores across the company will go piping bag to piping bag to create a cake celebrating Philadelphia’s beloved mascot.  The winning cake will be presented to the Phanatic live during the Citizens Bank Phanatic Birthday  celebration at Citizens Bank Park on Sunday, April 28.
                                                                                                                                         
“Each and every day, our Bakery Specialists create works of art for their customers to help them celebrate special moments,” said Dave Lessard, vice president of category management, GIANT Food Stores. “This contest is the perfect way to showcase our talented team members while celebrating our passion for Philadelphia and of course, our favorite mascot. Good luck to all of this year’s bakers - we can’t wait to see your cakes!”

Bakers will submit photos of their cake creations on Tuesday, April 23 and  a committee comprised of associates at the corporate office in Carlise, Pa., will select the top three cakes. Cakes will be judged based on the following criteria: having the Citizens Bank Park logo, overall appearance, as well as relevance to this year’s Citizens Bank Phanatic Birthday party theme, “Magic.”

On Thursday, April 25, the finalists will be posted on GIANT’S Facebook page for the public to vote, marking the very first time  the winner of the contest will be chosen by GIANT’S social media fans. 
Voting will begin at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 25 and run through 5 p.m. Friday, April 26. To vote, go to the GIANT Facebook page,www.facebook.com/giantfoodstores. Only one vote per Facebook account.

Now in its second year, GIANT’S partnership with the Phillies is a key component of the store’s growing relationship with the city of Philadelphia.
