My hunt for the perfect pencil ended in me paying 25¢ for an 8-pk at Staples!

It's that time where all of the stores are having their back to school sales and I must say that I absolutely love it! This past weekend there was a coupon in the paper for $1.00 off any 2 Bic stationery products. I saw these are were super excited. My oldest doesn't really need any writing supplies for school because we still have some left over from last year but my youngest did need pencils. I have been looking everywhere for the Sanford Eagle brand pencils for him but I found out they were discontinued (the company is now called Berol). Those pencils were the best for grade school. They hardly ever break and they are easy to sharpen. He's going to second grade and they go through a lot of pencils so this brand was the perfect type for him. Eagle pencils are made of a wood composite which made them almost impossible to break and easy to sharpen. Some people hated them, but not me, I LOVED THEM!

I even remember when they came out with the pencils made from recycled blue jeans and school lunch trays in 1995. Can you tell how old I am? I made my mother buy me at least 4 packs of those, (in case you're wondering I was in 5th grade in 1995). Since Sanford Eagle pencils can no longer be found, I was buying mechanical pencils for my son. That was a bad idea. Then I head that Bic was coming out with a new pencil called Xtra-Fun. I was ecstatic when I saw this. I finally saw them hitting them shelves and for an 8-pack, they retailed for $3.49. Not the price I wanted to pay. I let the time pass by. Now with the coupon in the paper from last week and this week's sale at Staples, I snagged 4 packs of those pencils for my boy for only a quarter each!

Staples is the place to go if you want these pencils. I only bought 4 packs of Xtra-fun pencils and 1 pack of black Bic pens since the coupons were $1.00 off of 2. I bought 5 packs for under $2.00!
