Walmart's Christmas Layaway Has Started!

Did you know that Walmart has started their Layaway? Get your Christmas shopping done early because Christmas is only 115 days away!

What can be put on layaway right now?

  • Electronics
  • Auto electronics
  • Large furniture
  • Infant furniture
  • Infant toys
  • Toys
  • Select sporting goods
  • Small appliances
  • Jewelry
Layaway started on August 28th which is a little earlier than last year's date. The item must be at least $10 and your total must be at least $50 in order for you to put it on layaway. A down payment of 10% or $10, whichever is greater, is required when items are placed on layaway at order creation. If items are added to a layaway order and the current deposit amount is less than 10% of the total basket, additional payment up to 10% of the total basket is required. You will have 90 days to pay it off. The set date to have your layaway paid off and picked up by is December 14, 2015. That's just 10 days before Christmas which is awesome! There were a few great questions that were asked on the Walmart page.

Here are some of the questions that were asked and Walmart's responses:

Can you price match the item while it's on layaway with black Friday deals?
  • "You should be able to ad match if you find a lower advertised price on a layaway item, but you will need to come into the store while the ad is active and request the match. Layaway hours for Black Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, will be 6 a.m. - 9 p.m."
If you have a item on layaway and it goes on sale on Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday will the price be honored and the deduction taken off your total amount due?
  • "If the Item stays at the lower price the system will catch it at the time you pay off your layaway and you will receive the item at the lower price. If the item goes back up in price after Black Friday, the system only looks at the price when the item was placed on layaway and then again at the pickup time it does not catch the temporary price change, you would receive the item for the price it had on it at the time you places it on layaway."
The great thing about Walmart's layaway program is that you don't have mandatory payment dates. You can pay off your layaway every week or every other week just as long as it is paid in full by December 14th. You have no idea how happy this made me seeing this. I know most of you might think I'm weird but I absolutely LOVE Christmas and the shopping and to know that it is around the corner is exciting!
